How to make time for workouts when you don’t have any time

We all know how important it is to make time for workouts. Exercise is not only crucial for our physical health, but it also improves our mental wellbeing. However, when life gets busy, it can be challenging to find the time to work out. I know this myself, being a busy mum especially with a little baby, it seems impossible to find a little spare time during the day to exercise. To be honest, when I get some free time when the baby is napping, most of the time I go to sleep too haha.

However, exercise is very important! I try my hardest to keep up a fitness routine as not only does it help me look better, I feel much better after a little workout too. There are ways to make time for workouts, even when you don’t have any time. In this blog post, we will discuss some tips on how to make time for workouts when you’re busy.

How to make time to workout tips

1. Make a schedule

Creating a schedule is an effective way to make time for workouts when you’re busy. You can start by reviewing your weekly calendar and identifying the best time to exercise. For instance, if you have a free hour after work, you can schedule your workout during that time. Alternatively, you can wake up early and exercise before your day starts. Once you have identified the best time for your workout, add it to your schedule, and treat it like an important appointment that you can’t miss. Stick to your schedule, and soon enough, exercise will become a part of your daily routine.

After my little one goes for his morning nap, this is the time I’ve scheduled for a little workout. Make it very clear to yourself when and where exactly you will exercise, in this way it will become a habit. For example “I will do a workout video straightaway after my baby takes a nap” will be much more effective than “After my baby naps I will workout.”

2. Take advantage of your lunch break

If you have a busy work schedule, using your lunch break can be an excellent way to fit in a quick workout. Instead of eating your lunch at your desk, take a walk around your office or outside. You can also find a nearby gym and use your lunch break to exercise. Most gyms have quick 30-minute workouts that you can complete during your lunch break. If you don’t want to leave your office, you can do some exercises like push-ups or lunges in an empty conference room.

3. Use your commute time

Your commute to work can also be an opportunity to get some exercise. If you live close to your workplace, consider walking or biking to work. If you have to drive, park your car farther away from your destination and walk the rest of the way. This will give you a chance to move your body and get some fresh air before and after work. If you take public transportation, get off one or two stops earlier and walk the rest of the way.

4. Exercise at home

If you don’t have the time to go to the gym, you can still exercise at home. There are many resources available, such as workout videos on youtube and fitness apps. My favourite youtube channel that I follow along for workouts is “Blogilates”. You can also invest in some basic home workout equipment like resistance bands, dumbbells, or a yoga mat. The best part is you can do it all in the comfort of your own home without having to worry about travel time.

5. Wake up earlier

I know, I know, waking up earlier may be the last thing you want to do. However, waking up earlier than usual can give you the extra time you need to fit in a workout. You could wake up 30 minutes earlier than usual and use that time to exercise. Maybe go for a run or do a quick workout in your living room. Waking up early can also help you establish a healthy morning routine (I’m getting instagram girl doing yoga on the beach and drinking matcha latte vibes here), giving you the energy and focus to tackle the rest of your day.

6. Make it a family affair

If you have a busy family schedule, you can get your family involved in your workout routine! You can plan a family hike or bike ride on the weekends or after dinner (a bike ride not spending hours hiking after dinner haha). You can also sign up for a family membership at a local gym or community centre. You might find working out together with the kids is really fun! This is a great way to spend time with your loved ones while also prioritizing your health and fitness.

7. Multitask

If you’re still struggling to find time to exercise, you can try multitasking. You can perform simple exercises like squats, lunges, or calf raises while brushing your teeth or waiting for your coffee to brew. You can also try doing a few exercises during commercial breaks while watching TV. Even if you can only squeeze in five or ten minutes of exercise at a time, it all adds up in the long run.

Conclusion

In conclusion, making time for workouts when you’re busy is not impossible. With a little planning and creativity, you can find ways to incorporate exercise into your daily routine. Remember, even a short workout can make a significant difference in your health and well-being. So, start making time for workouts today, and you’ll be on your way to a healthier, happier you!
